The Compost "Old News" Mailbag

A present from the past, delivered with no return address..

This piece draws inspiration from the mailman sling bags of midcentury America, finding itself lost amid a sea of antique Japanese indigo and shaded by notes of peculiar cultural influence.  After pondering the wear pattern and how the bag would age and grow with its owner, I decided on a heavyweight hickory striped vintage denim I hand sourced, and meticulously patchworked a medley of antique Japanese indigo fabric Sashiko style to bind the beautiful blues to the bag.  The bag was then carefully hand distressed to create a special cohesion between all the elements involved, an ode to what only time can do best. 

God is in the details see, the body of the piece comes fully lined with antique Japanese fabric, and while most mailbags come with an unsealable open mouth, ours can be secured by the antiqued Western buttons, and held securely across your body or over your shoulder with the attached WW2 era sling strap.
