“Scabs, Kind of Blue” OG 107
Upon completing my Kind of Blue mini collection, one half of which includes this Og 107, I couldn’t help but notice the poetic semblances boro share with human scabs. The art of repair, organic material that dares, strives to fight, to share it’s unique voice but another day. And all out of necessity.
I find it truly beautiful.
For this pair, my goal was to create a piece that spoke that same message, i wanted something that was, instead of being an obvious addition to the orginal canvas, was something that seemed like an organic growth, here to stay, to heal, to protect for as long as the wearer wants.
For this pair I used a beatifully worn vintage OG and added strictly, decades to century old Japanese indigo fabric, creating “scabs” and patching up gaps, completely by hand. Alongside the easily visible white sashiko, there exists a subtle network of many lines of navy sashiko further securing the pant.
One of fav works to date, hope this goes to a good home😌✨!
